Portsmouth Museums Key Pass

Looking for a fun way to spend the weekend without spending a lot of money? Visit the Portsmouth Museums and ask for a "Key Pass," which admits you to the Children's Museum of Virginia, the Naval Shipyard Museum, the Lightship Portsmouth Museum, and the Courthouse Galleries for a mere $9. And don't worry about seeing it all in a day. The Key Pass is good for 90 days (for one visit per museum). Key Passes are sold at the cashier's counter of each city museum. During the summer, the Portsmouth Museums are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Children's Museum of Virginia is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. The museums are closed on Mondays during the school year, between Labor Day and Memorial Day; however, they will open on a Monday if it is an observed holiday. Call 757-393-5111 for information.

 

7-4-1 Membership

A pass to visit seven Hampton Roads museums. Includes admission to the Children's Museum of Virginia, Courthouse Galleries, Naval Shipyard Museum and Lightship PORTSMOUTH in Portsmouth; the Virginia Living Museum in Newport News; the Virginia Air & Space Center in Hampton; and Nauticus in Norfolk. The membership can result in quite a savings for a family since the typical one-time admission price for an adult ranges from $6 at the Children's Museum of Virginia to $9.95 at Nauticus. Membership to the program is available at three levels: Individual, Family, or Grandparents. 7-4-1 Memberships, which are good for one year from the date of purchase, can be bought at any one of the participating museums.
